Dear Friends,

Saludos from Southern Chile! The days are getting longer and the weather has been improving, for which we praise the LORD!  We have had a couple of great months ministry-wise here in Chile, and we thank you for interceding for us before the throne of God.

Our folks have dealt with a few bouts of seasonal illness thanks to the wet, cold winter, but now that we’re heading into the spring, things should level out a little.

Our fifth anniversary with special guests

On July 20th our church celebrated our fifth anniversary, with special guests invited from Santiago. Pastor Juan Gustavo Vallejos preached for our morning service and we enjoyed slow-cooked beef and some Cuban-style masas de cerdo.

The day prior, we visited the local open-air market to preach and pass out several hundred tracts. While we didn’t have any new visitors despite passing out 300+ invitations, we enjoyed our time together, getting to know some fellow believers with a heart for evangelization in the southern regions of Chile.

We had several folks accompany us for public ministry

We’re also grateful for the folks stepping up to participate in various aspects of the ministry, from teaching the children, to learning the “sound booth”, to taking leadership in planning and overseeing the different practical needs of the church. With folks helping out, it’s much less of a “one man band” sort of situation where the missionaries do all the things!

We had several folks accompany us for public ministry

As we count down the days to our departure for the States, we’re getting the folks prepared for our furlough.  It can be frightening to think about the pastor leaving the country for a year or more, so we want to leave everyone with a clear plan of action to both continue the work and expand it while we’re gone. We are also grateful to brother Luís, who will be staying in our house and serving the church in our absence.

We took a break from scheduling meetings over the last couple of months, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t working on furlough plans. In fact, we purchased our tickets to arrive in the States on December 10th, and already have several appointments and plans made for the rest of that week.

We’re hoping to get all of our furlough travel needs squared away before Christmas. We appreciate your prayers and consideration in this regard.

Thank you so very much for your faithful prayers and support for the LORD’s ministry here in Southern Chile.
