Hello from California (again!)

We are nearly halfway through our furlough travels. Please see below for an update on our family.

Hello from the West Coast (again)!  Our schedule necessitated a return trip to the People’s Republic of California (sorry!), where we have enjoyed fellowship and a couple of visits already since returning at the end of July.  In our last letter, we were in Nevada with an upcoming trip through Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

After visiting churches in almost all of those States, we took our first trip to Canada, visiting with five new churches in Alberta.  There was even a person that trusted Christ as Saviour during our first meeting, and we thank the LORD for the opportunity to proclaim the gospel.  We appreciate all those churches’ generosity and hospitality, and we enjoyed meeting folks up and down the QE2.

The “vehicle drama” this time was much less dramatic than in previous letters; in July after returning from Canada, we dropped our RV off in Post Falls for some maintenance.  Unfortunately they weren’t able to finish everything, and we’ll have to do it again, but we’re able to keep going.

During the RV maintenance, we were able to help a church in Montana with their VBS, and they provided a place for us to stay.

Iglesia Bautista el Faro celebrated their sixth anniversary on July 19th

Pastor Keith Simmons and his church put on a crazy VBS, with kids using power drills, saws, augers, and hammers to build various projects with the theme “Jesus was a carpenter.”  The kids were presented with the gospel multiple times each day, and everyone learned a lot about working with their hands.

The next two months will see us in Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin, and then in Ohio, before heading back to Texas. There are many thousands of miles of travel in store before we get to go home to Chile, as well as numerous tanks of costly diesel, so please pray for our safety on the road, and the LORD’s provision as we travel and try to raise some desperately needed support.

Oh, and one more thing: the much-promised and long-awaited final furlough video!  We’ve been promising to send out a final version, and you can view it right here on our website!

As we look forward to finishing our stateside travels and going home to Chile, we are looking at the upcoming expenses.  Please keep us in your prayers as it will cost us at least $4,500 in plane tickets for our return trip.

Also, the church in Osorno is almost in crisis mode regarding a larger space to meet, after our sixth anniversary in July.  We discussed the situation on a video call for almost an hour this past Sunday.  Please pray for wisdom, provision, and direction.

Furlough has also been very costly, and we have been backwards on expenses more than once over the last few months. Please pray for provision for us, as well as some savings for our return to Chile.

Finally, we want to thank the LORD for some monthly support for Bro. Luís Huerta, the Peruvian national that is covering for us while we travel.  However, starting a new family is costly and he could definitely use your support if you were so inclined.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers and financial support.  We appreciate everything done on our behalf.
