Here is our May 2026 Furlough prayer letter, available to download as a PDF.

Hello from Nevada!

We have been all over the place, visiting churches and preparing for a year or more of travel. Please see below for an update on our family.

Hello from Nevada!  Our furlough travels have taken us all over the place since our last letter, from Texas to Missouri, Nevada, Northern California, and then back to Nevada. We have seen some beautiful country, though that doesn’t quite make up for the $7+ diesel prices in some places!  What does make up for it is the wonderful fellowship and hospitality of the churches we have been blessed to visit with.  We are so appreciative of the kindness and generosity that has been shown to us.

A recent full house service in Osorno

Our tally brings us to a total of 18 States visited or traveled through so far, but the LORD has been gracious and has provided for all of our needs.  Without a doubt this has been one of the most aggressive schedules that we’ve had during our time on the road, but the outcome of being able to share God’s work with the churches here in the States, and the eventual goal of returning to Chile with the necessary resources, is worth all the effort.

It wouldn’t be a LaRue Furlough Prayer Letter without some sort of vehicle drama, so here we go:

This one has a warranty. 😐

We got really tired of spending God’s people’s money on repairing an aging and high mileage truck, so we traded it in while we were in Henderson for this 2015 with fewer miles and an extended warranty.  We are so grateful to all of the churches and individuals who gave toward keeping our old truck on the road, but after replacing the radiator in New Mexico ($2,400), and with the transmission going out ($9k+), it was time to upgrade.

During our time in California, we’ve been able to participate with several different churches in various ministries.  We are grateful for the churches that have promised to support the LORD’s ministry in Chile, and it has been a blessing to meet a lot of new folks as well as recnnect with old friends and longtime supporters.

Please keep us in your prayers as we continue our travels, next in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alberta before heading back to the Midwest via Colorado.

We are generally loath to mention finances in any  specific dollars and cents way, but it seems proper at this time to ask for our supporting churches to help us pray for a couple of specific goals.

First of all, the church in Osorno is outgrowing its current facilities.  Almost a month’s worth of meetings have been standing room only, and there simply isn’t any way to expand in our current location.  Please pray for the LORD’s guidance on our next steps, and for the provision to follow through.

Also, furlough has been wonderful but has been very expensive as well.  Please pray that we can take care of our expenses, as well as save up for our return to Chile.

Finally, the brother that has been taking care of the ministry while we are on furlough, Luís Huerta, lost his remote job this month, and is now in need of some income to continue working in the ministry. If you are interested in supporting a great, faithful national servant, please reach out to me, and I will give you his support information.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support.  We are grateful for everything done on our behalf.
