Praying Friends,
The last two months have provided various opportunities to engage in the ministry of reconciliation, lifting up the precious name of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ. We have been honored to be able to minister in the towns of Purranque, Llanquihue, Puerto Varas, and Fresia, along with our ongoing work in the city of Osorno, especially with the Alvarado family that receives us in their home with great hospitality on a monthly basis. On that front, the LORD has not seen fit for us to begin a “church plant” in the traditional sense in Osorno, but the Alvarados, sick of the apostate evangelicalism so prevalent in Chile, have been very desirous that we increase the frequency of our Bible studies with them. As a result, we are now going twice a month, which while augmenting the expenditure of our outreaches, is a wonderful and encouraging sign that someone somewhere somehow wants to receive instruction from God’s word. Please pray for our ongoing ministering to their family, that the LORD would direct us in our next steps.
We would ask you to pray with us about the LORD’s provision for printing Bibles to be used in the ministry here in Chile and throughout the rest of Latin America. It is our desire to make the Bible available to everyone that wants it. To accomplish that, we (meaning the ministries that share our belief in the Bible) are looking at having the Bible printed in the United States, and we’d ask you to pray for wisdom throughout this process.
As of this month, we’re officially one year away from finishing our first term here in Chile, and while we don’t want to leave, we know that it’s important to return to the States for a time to prepare for the next phase of the LORD’s ministry here in Chile. To make the most of our short time there, please pray that the LORD would give us wisdom in the meetings we schedule, and for the Churches that receive us to share our burden for salvation of the people of Chile.
Further, in the interest of our long-term (until the undertaker or the Uppertaker) ministering here in Chile, we are in the middle of the Permanent Residence Visa process, which appears to be going well. The office that deals with immigration here in Chile is working overtime to deal with the increase in immigrants, so the process will likely take some time, but we have complied with all the legalities and are simply waiting for them to send us our documents as permanent legal residents of Chile, which will set the stage for all future ministry efforts here in the Southern Cone.
Thank you so much for your continued faithful prayer and financial support, as it is the means by which the LORD allows us to remain here and fulfill His ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).
In Christ,
Vince, Kathie, Nathan, James, and Asa LaRue
P.S. In late June, our vehicle went in for head gasket repairs. Thankfully, labor is less expensive here than in the States, but parts, should they be necessary, are much more costly. Please pray for us that the repair is done quickly and without too much expense.
